Programming a Cardin Sliding-Gate Motor: Travel, Force and Safety

Commissioning a Cardin motor on a sliding gate comes down to three stages: mechanical preparation, travel learning, safety adjustment. A well-programmed gate means a motor that lasts.

Before any programming

• Check the gate slides freely by hand, with no tight spot, when released
• Check the mechanical opening and closing stops are secure: the learning cycle uses them as references
• Position the limit magnets or cams as per the manual

The travel-learning cycle

1. With the gate at mid-travel, enter programming mode from the board (PROG button or combination depending on the unit).
2. Start the learning cycle: the gate closes slowly, opens fully, then closes again while measuring travel and required effort.
3. Confirm, then register the remote on the chosen channel.

Force and safety: the regulatory point

The control unit calculates the required force automatically, but too high a setting makes the gate dangerous. Test obstacle detection: the gate must stop and reverse on simple resistance. Always wire in the photocells and, on a gate opening onto a public road, the flashing light.
